It's About Time

December 20, 2016

As I am typing these thoughts, I do so after completing my final draft of my Christmas Eve and Christmas Day sermons. While holding onto the need for me and us to faithfully observe the twelve days of Christmas (beginning Christmas Day), I am also putting my fingers around what is to come…January.

January is a great month. It is a time to continue various celebrations, and then to move to another season, Epiphany. January is a great month to think about Epiphanies. Epiphanies are new revelations to be discovered.

Many people discover new habits, new hobbies, and new endeavors by simply trying it out. I like to think of January is a great time to bring order out of chaos, which is what the Word does.

My sermon series during January is entitled, "It's About Time". Perhaps January is a time for a new endeavor on your part. Many choose January as a time to "get fit", "lose a few pounds", or "get our finances in order." Others choose to read the Bible more, pray more regularly, pray longer, give more sacrificially, witness more positively, or serve more regularly. Regardless of our physical, mental, or emotional capacities, January serves us well to "get to it".

As we finish up 2016, let's embrace 2017 as an opportunity. In the Words of John Wesley, "the best is yet to come!"

Grace and Peace!
