Conflict and Strife in our World

August 15, 2017

In the midst of conflict and strife in our world, it is so important to demonstrate fruits of the Spirit as people of Great Faith. I am appalled at the images and reports from extremists (Charlottesville) who campaign for some sort of superiority. Way beyond sad! Far past Ignorance! In other words, maddening! An old expression I am familiar with is, "I'm not just mad, I'm spittin' mad!" As I deal with my own emotions, as well as the emotions of others, I know I need to behave appropriately and effectively. Now, as we see how to go forward, we admit our differences. And more importantly, embrace how we are Alike.

Galatians is a book about our freedom in Christ. From Galatians 3:28 we read: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." I trust that we see in that verse that the scales are perfectly balanced, because of Jesus Christ. In Jesus, I have been set free. In Jesus, you have been set free. In Jesus, our neighbor has been set free. Hallelujah!

One of my favorite music artists is Phil Collins. He released a song several years ago entitled, "You'll be in My Heart". Some of the words are: "Why can't they understand the way we feel. They just don't trust what they can't explain. I know we're different, but deep inside us, we're not that different at all".

As I continue to process, to pray, to heal, and to speak boldly in the midst of clearly wrong behaviors, may I do so with the fruits of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-Control! I invite you to do so as well!

Blessings, Richie
