Purpose in Our Lives

December 19, 2017

I am a dog person. I think a good dog is a wonderful companion; loyal, forgiving, and very protecting. However, other people are cat people. To them, a cat provides a companion that likes to snuggle on one's lap and be petted. The cat provides an avenue in which its owner can provide an amazing amount of care for them. Clearly, the animals are different. Also, the owners have different needs.

God created each of us in a unique way. A person can sadly go throughout life, still trying to learn their function, as God truly designed. The Bible says, "We are like sheep who have wandered off and gotten lost. We have all done our own thing, gone our own way."

Imagine a cat attempting to bark at the UPS truck as it delivers a package to your door. Or imagine a large dog climbing a tree to hide from another critter. Silly! Perhaps, we need to re-discover God in our lives.

I am convinced God would like to give us a clearer sense of purpose in our lives! When we receive God's peace in our lives, instead of fighting against it, we receive wonderful qualities that are perfect for each of us.

May this Christmas be a time for each of us to receive from the Holy Spirit these fruits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control!

Merry Christmas! Richie
